Novick wins OEA endorsement, Frohnmayer third
Submitted by Sal Peralta on Sat, 03/08/2008 - 15:09.Jeff Mapes is reporting that Portland Attorney Steve Novick has won the endorsement of the Oregon Education Association, one of Oregon's most powerful labor unions.
The voting by the 337 delegates at the Salem Conference Center was weighted based on contributions made by each local to the OEA's political fund.

John Frohnmayer Stands up for Free Speech
Submitted by Sal Peralta on Sun, 07/29/2007 - 16:56.Former NEA chair, and potential candidate for the U.S. Senate, John Frohnmayer gave conservative radio talker Lars Larson a lesson in humility in the Oregonian this week.
Larson, it seems, had picked up on a recent column by Dave Reinhard, criticizing the Port of Portland for posting a piece of art in a free speech exhibit at the PDX airport.
Larson calls the art obscene and anti-American. Here's Frohnmayer's response:
