Who is anonymous?

Two weeks ago, Tom Cruise released a video on behalf of the Church of Scientology, with the intention of recruiting new members into the fold.

The video has prompted a both parody and interest from the c-net and about 150 articles in the international press.

This week, the "hot" news is that Anonymous, an unnamed group, has declared war on Scientology.

This "war" has all of the makings of a comic book series, and is probably a prank being pulled by striking Hollywood writers, and appears to consist of denial of service attacks and a series of earned media events played out on YouTube and other venues. My guess is that it will culminate in a feature film starring Scientologists John Travolta and Tom Cruise.

It is an effort worthy of church founder, science fiction author, L Ron Hubbard, and to Hollywood, the city that Scientology calls home.
